The final training session “Jurisdiction in matrimonial and parental responsibility matters”organised as a part of the project “EU Judiciary Training on Brussels IIa Regulation: From South to East”, took place at the Spanish Judiciary School on 4-5 July 2017.

Project members from all partner institutions participated as trainersCristina González Beilfuss, Costanza Honorati, Ivana Kunda, Agne Limante, Carola Ricci and Mirela Župan. In addition, the experts Volker Biβmaier, Judge at the local Court of Besigheim (Germany) and Claudia Wünschenmeyer, Judge at the Regional Court of Appeal in Celle (Germany) and Liaison Judge at the European Judicial Network, both shared their judicial experience in the important issue of hearing of the child.

During one day and a half, selected issues were covered, including the scope and structure of the Brussels II bis Regulation and its relationship with other legal sources of international and EU family law, jurisdiction in cases of divorce of a couple with and without minor children, jurisdiction for divorce proceedings and related proceedings on parental responsibility, as well as transfer of proceedings. Special attention was paid to the hearing of the child.

The event was a great success. 58 participants, including lawyers and judges, actively participated in the seminar. During both sessions there were lively discussions and comparisons on sensitive issues of the subject.

Positive feedback from participants was received through evaluation questionnaires where participants had the opportunity to evaluate their trainers, the seminar in general, and organizational aspects.

We share below some photos taken during these two days of Judicial Training.

Thanks to everyone!
